The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is exploring Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI), a stormwater management system that uses vegetation, soils, and natural processes to manage water while creating healthier urban environments.
In April 2014, ACHD was awarded a grant by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the implementation of GSI in the Main Street/ Fairview Avenue sub-district of the 30th Street Urban Renewal District. The goals of the project include: 1. Identify and prioritize approaches; 2. Develop a green infrastructure concept plan; and, Evaluate how the plan could mitigate stormwater in a redevelopment scenario.
