The Treasure Valley Shade Tree Project is a partnership between the Treasure Valley Canopy Network, Idaho Power Company, Idaho Department of Lands and Arbor Day Foundation's Energy Saving Trees Program.

This project, funded by the US Forest Service, is targeted at providing shade trees to residential homeowners to be planted for energy conservation.

Planting a shade tree to the West of a Treasure Valley home can result in up to 15% reduction in summer cooling costs.

In collaboration with several local municipalities, the project started in Fall of 2013 and has provided over 7,500 shade trees to residents throughout the region.

Spring 2017 distribution events were held the week of March 3-8 in Mountain Home, Nampa, Boise and Meridian.  Trees were provided to residents in Ada, Canyon, Elmore and Owyhee Counties.

Fall 2017 enrollment is now open!  This offering is open to Idaho Power Residents in Ada, Elmore, Canyon, Owyhee, Washington, Gem and Payette Counties.  Interested participants can enroll online at: Idaho Power's Shade Tree Project website.
