The Treasure Valley Urban Wood Collaborative facilitates development of resources to support improved use of the large trees that have to be removed from our region's urban forest. Collaborations with municipal partners and the local tree care industry are supporting development of 208 Urban Timber which is helping ensure that when our region's trees are removed that they don't end up in the landfill. Instead, these trees are being milled into timber that can be used by local craftspeople to shape into beautiful and functional products (artwork, furniture, etc.) and sold to local consumers. We are excited about the potential that this urban wood collaborative provides for: reduced waste in our landfills, sustainability and carbon reduction.
